Border Update 11-3-2024

(Our regular monthly Border Justice Project collection is THIS WEDNESDAY. Please see last week’s email for details.)

NEXT SUNDAY, November 10th, from 12-2 at the UU Fellowship building (3845 N Swan Street in Silver City), there will be a special Giving Day for Border Partners in Palomas Mexico. Polly and Peter Edmunds, two of the co-founders of Border Partners, will have their truck and trailer from Deming in our parking lot. I told you about Border Partners last week. They are a humanitarian community organization that has amazing projects all over Palomas; from a computer/educational center to community gardens to a youth center to water catchment systems to biochar heaters to papercrete manufacturing to Meals on Wheels to home health visits to…you name it. And they can use some help with tools and equipment. Here’s their complete list:

For gardening, farming, green houses:
Wheel barrows
Shovels  and Pickaxes
Rakes
Heavy digging bars
Sledge hammers
Hoses and hose fittings and sprinklers
Compost grinder, electric or gas powered

For construction projects:
For carpentry and woodworking projects:
Levels,
Shovels
Trowels
Hawk boards

For plumbing:
Pipe wrenches
Vice grips
PVC pipe 1/2″ and 3/4″, in useable lengths
Drain fittings

For electrical projects:
Meters and testers
Switch boxes, fuse and breaker boxes
Wire in useful lengths, any size

Woodworking tools:
Table saw
Chop saw
Saber saw
Skill saw
Drill press
Hand drills,  battery and full electric powered
Sanders, belt and orbital
Planer

Metal working tools:
Arch welder
Wire feed welder
Anvil
Welding safety clothing: helmets, gloves,  goggles

Computers of a usable age, new to 5 years old.

In early 2025 we will do another Giving Day for Border Partners, requesting medical equipment you may no longer need.
