Social Justice Committee
Social Justice Committee Overview
Introduction to Social Justice: Social justice broadly refers to the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society. The Social Justice Committee (SJC) focuses on four main areas:

Immigration Justice:
- Focus: Primary area of concern for the past few years.
- Issues: Addressing the complex, ever-changing needs of asylum seekers and migrants at our border with Mexico. Humanitarian aid remains a constant necessity.

Climate Change/Environmental Justice:
- Issue: A complex global challenge.
- Action: Supporting local recycling initiatives and promoting sustainable living and green local agendas.

Income Inequality:
- Past Contributions: Time, energy, and resources have been dedicated to local food banks and homeless shelters.
- Current Efforts: Continuation of support as resources permit.

Local Politics:
- Regulations: As a religious organization, we do not support individual candidates or parties.
- Activities: Engaged in political education and activism, focusing on voter registration, turnout, and education.
Additional Concerns:
- Racism/White Privilege
- Community Policing
- Domestic Violence/Women’s Shelters
- LGBTQ Discrimination
