Nothing in this coming election has more riding on it than immigration reform. And there are lots of other important issues!!! If our country is going to get its humanity back we need to get rid of the racist policies of this administration.
From Austin Kocher, “99.97% =
The share of total refugees the United States admitted in fiscal year 2026 through July 31 who came from South Africa, 10,255 people out of 10,258.
The Trump administration abolished the refugee system, then reopened it for just one group: white South Africans (falsely claiming they were facing genocide). The fiscal year opened with a ceiling of 7,500, the lowest in the program’s history, and an emergency presidential determination signed on May 21 raised it to 17,500 and allocated every one of the additional 10,000 places to Afrikaners from South Africa under Executive Order 14204.
Total admissions were 38,102 in fiscal 2025 and 100,034 in fiscal 2024, so this is a program running at about a tenth of its size two years ago and drawing entirely from one country. Just three people came from a country other than South Africa.”
I have one word for that…”disgusting.”
The New Mexico Immigrant Law Center (NMILC)
This statewide organization has been around for 15 years. Its mission is “to advance justice and equity by empowering low-income immigrant communities through collaborative legal services, advocacy, and education.”Their website is nmilc.org.
We have been very impressed by the work they have done. I reached out to them asking if we could earmark a donation for our tri-county area. They can’t for many well explained reasons, but did assure me that they prioritize rural areas due to the lack of legal assistance. So if you have donated financially, know that a portion of your money was sent to NMILC. Check them out for personal direct donations too.

One last photo from our Raging Grannies pop-up in front of Dem headquarters in Silver this evening! We had a small but appreciative audience
Thank you for being a part of the resistance and, more importantly, the change we need to sustain our community and ourselves
